Mill Consultant.

Currently consultancy work was for United Nations Industrial Development Organisation as International Consultant in Palm Oil Mill design and Installation for a project to design six small palm oil mills in Nigeria and Cameroon. (August 2010 to Current.)

This work is on contract basis and involves Design, installation and project supervision. Travel to Nigeria and Cameroon is undertaken when necessary. The last trip to Cameroon was in January this year.

Other currently work includes mill audits and advice for Palm Oil Mills in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Mill Manager, Mill Advisor, and responsible for the construction( 1^st Phase) of a new 60 tons per hour palm oil mill in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The design concept and tender documents were executed by me for contractors to come up with construction drawings. Supervised this project until project completion and operations. This mill is now in operation.

JRA Engineering  1997 to 2004

Consultant for the Design, Preparation of Design Drawings, Preparation Of tender Documents, Evaluation Of tenders, Project Supervision and Commissioning for Agroindomas 45/90 Tons per Hour Palm oil mill in Central Kalimantan- current project. This project is complete and the mill is in full operation.

Mill visiting services for mill inspection and providing technical and management advice. Mills are audited and corrective actions suggested for processing efficiency, process control, reduction of product losses and improving mill management and maintenance.

Operations General Manager

1996 - to June 97   Pollution Engineering

This company deals with sewerage treatment plant projects.  As a turnkey contractor, design, implementation and the company carries out commissioning. Pollution Engineering also manufactures incinerators and mechanical screens.   This company deals with multiple projects in Malaysia and overseas. Two project managers and four assistant project managers reported to me.  Under the project there are mechanical, electrical and civil engineers. The other departments that report to me are the sales, human resource and process departments.

This job involved the overseeing the implementation of a project for the construction of a 40-80 tons Palm oil Factory for Bumi Raya Utama

Principle Consultant

1988-1995     , JR Engineering Consultants.

During this period I was self employed and carried consultancy projects for the construction of Palm Oil factories and implementing quality assurance systems to ISO 9000 series of standards.  During this period I carried out two projects, one in Indonesia and one in India.  For the plant in India I prepared the design specifications and the tender documents.  A project was also carried out to investigate and advise on actions necessary to reduce the operations cost and improve operation efficiency for a processing plant. A project was also carried out in Ghana for the redesign, construction and commissioning of the Kernel plant for a 30 tons per hour mill for the Ghana oil Palm Development Corporation in 1992. This project was for a period of 3 months and stayed in Ghana to do this project.

The major responsibility was the supervising of projects of the firm and acting as the owner's representative for the projects.  Work included visiting exiting factories to  advise on corrective actions for improving operations.

I joined Guthries after my graduation and worked in various positions.

Consulting Engineer

Responsibilities included the managing of projects for clients of Guthries from the feasibility stage to the operations. During this period was responsible for two projects. One for a palm oil factory in Indonesia (project financed by the World Bank) and one in the Philippines (project financed by Commonwealth Development Corporation). Other jobs done included the carrying out of project feasibility and evaluation studies for the company.

Factory Manager

1980-1983, Kumpulan Guthrie

Responsible for the total management of factory. Responsibilities Included, maintenance, technical operations, administration and dealing with the labour unions.  The staffs employed at the factory were 120 people. Reported to a Regional General manager who was responsible for six processing plants. Palm oil Factories include process machinery, electric hoists, Boilers, Power generation equipment, water treatment plants and effluent treatment plant.

Project Engineer

1973-1979     , Kumpulan Guthrie

As a project engineer I was based on site and carried out day to day supervising of construction. This work included civil, structural, earthworks, mechanical and electrical works. Responsibilities included the handling of all import machinery documentation and delivery to project site.

After graduation from university I started work with Guthries as a trainee engineer and carried of jobs including some time in the drawing office.
